Drywall/Plaster

This was a very interesting job in Catskill, NY.  The house was a custom octagonal home designed by the owner. We did it all here for sure.  From the vapor barrier, to sheetrock and taping, and finally priming and painting.  The homeowner is in theatre so the colors and faux are bright and numerous. This project posed numerous problems.  In all eight corners, where the rafters met the walls, there was a desperagement in terms of how they lined up...they didn't!  There was a rough opening for a spiral staircase that accesses the cupola.  That also didn't line up, and you will see pictures of the custom framing we had to impliment in order to sheetrock properly.  I have numerous pictures of this because it is a real source of pride and accomplishment...as is this whole job.  Check it out...

The home is shaped kind of like a mushroom.  You enter into a stairway going up (also on the ground floor, or base is the utility room) and the upstairs is completely open.  The kitchen is in the center and around the center is the living room and the master bedroom/bath.  The interior walls "float" (they don't meet the ceiling) and are actually held solid by the sheetrock. The cupola is also octagonal.  A deck surrounds the primary floor (thus all the sliding/french doors).  If you look carefully in the first two pic's you will see that the ceiling corners did not line up and required extreme padding.
